Edward S. Curtis devoted 35 years of his life to photographing and documenting the vanishing race of the North American Indian. The result of his efforts was a 20 volume set of books (text and photogravures) and 20 portfolios of large photogravures. This collection available on VHS or DVD was taken directly from an original set of folio photogravures which captures the essence of Curtis' work.

The public has only very limited access to Curtis' massive photographic masterpieces, and remaining sets are very rare, selling in the $700,000 range. In 10 years of work, W. R. Hilligoss of Larkspur Fine Arts has reduced Curtis' great work to slide, VHS and micro-fiche, and is currently finishing a micro-film edition of each volume. This year the beautiful video-cassette version (2 hours & 4 minutes) became available to collectors at just $98, now $49 plus tax. The cassette itself is a masterpiece, and we congratulate Hilligoss for this magnificent, contribution to Western photographic scholarship in this 150th anniversary year of the art.
